What Wikipedia said about the movie: A Monster Calls is a 2016 dark fantasy drama film directed by J. A. Bayona and written by Patrick Ness, based on his novel of the same name. The film stars Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, Toby Kebbell, Lewis MacDougall, and Liam Neeson, and tells the story of Conor (MacDougal), a child whose mother (Jones) is terminally ill; one night, he is visited by a giant tree-like monster (Neeson), who states that he will come back and tell him three stories.

What I thought about the movie:  This is the saddest movie EVER! The story is amazing, the theme and music is amazing, and the actors are amazing. This is a spectacular movie and I love every single part of it. My only tip is that you either buy it when it comes out on DVD or you bring a blanket, 3 boxes of tissues and loads of popcorn to bring up your spirits. As I was saying, everyone in my cinema cried, even the adults, and there were tons of adults. I cried too. Anyway, through tears did happiness come and at the end I was crying tears of joy. So, how did you find it? Answer in the comments below.

(Mum says: This movie is one that is incredibly moving and beautifully told, that will take most watchers for a very emotional journey. However, I might suggest that if you are thinking of watching it with a younger viewer you might want to read the book and work out if it is right for your child. Moo was spot on about the tearful adults in the cinema. The dad and his daughters behind us were just as emotional as we were.)

Score: 5/5 cowbells
